Toys and Collectibles

This is the toy and collectibles exhibit that I am referring to on my post July 8. Young, old and young at heart gathered to see the exhibits. There were lots of people at the Event Center of SM City Clark, Angeles City, Philippines. I remember when I was a kid, I keep a toy collections of G.I. Joe's, matchbox and little toy soldiers with battle tanks and some Ghostbuster action figures. I don't know where I have put those now. Here are some of the toys and collectibles I have taken at the exhibit last month. Sorry I don't have a high end camera for some of the photos are a bit dark and blur.

Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman

Lord of the Rings
Trilogy

Iron Man

Batman on Batcycle

Superman/Clark Kent

Yes, Captain Barbell has it's own action figure. Captain Barbell is our local super hero here in the Philippines. He is like Superman.

Batmobile

There you go. Those are some of the action figures at the exhibit. There are also NBA players, characters from Disney like Lion King, Disney Princesses, Tarzan, and much more. I can't get photos of all the action figures at the exhibit because kids all around me especially those who are near the toys won't budge, LOLz!

The Foundation and Man of the House..

Last year on my post about Father's Day, I have told you about my Father and the things that he did and taught to me when I was still a kid. My Father is a quiet person and one thing that he don't want to do, is to pose for the camera to get his photo, LOLz! He just simply shrugged or hide whenever I am holding the camera on him to get his photo that is why some of the photo I took where he is in them are mostly stolen shots hehehe!

Today is not only Father's day, I mean biological father's day but also for our Uncles, Big Brothers and Grandfathers who are there and stand as our Daddy or takes care of us like a father does. I remember my Grandfather, my father's daddy. When my Tatay is not around, he is there to be my daddy for a day. He died in March 1998 after his 73rd birthday due to complications and he was undergoing dialysis at that time. It was like losing a father at that time. He was a good adviser and as I was growing up as a teenager, he never let a day pass without checking on me and my siblings. I remember that after Tatay taught me how to drive, he goes out with me driving since I don't have a license at that time just a student license. We drive around Clark Air Base and go to duty free shops. Sometimes when he has to go to the doctor for a checkup he lets me drive. By the way, my Grandfather was a retired veteran. He was an Airplane mechanic back then. Tatay told me that when he was still a child, my Grandfather is out of the country mostly and stays in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and sometimes in Thailand. There was a time that my father's whole family were migrated to Laos. Laos, formally known as the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), is one of the poorest nations in South-East Asia. A mountainous and landlocked country, Laos shares borders with Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the south, Thailand to the west, and Myanmar and China to the north. I think my Grandfather was one time assigned at Laos that's why my Tatay with my Grandmother and two uncles were migrated there.

When I was born, Grandfather always come home from abroad to see me and bring me lots of toys. He retired in service when I was in grade 3 I think that was in the late 80's because that's the time I remembered that I was always being taken care by him almost everyday and drops me off to school. I learned how to whistle at the age of 5 through my grandfather.

To my Tatay, my BFF's dad and my Grandfather... Happy Father's day to all Dad's, Grandfather and Uncles out there!

Hey! It's all about Nhey!

It has been 35 years... You were a kid, teenager, now a lady and mother. Second to 5 siblings and you are all girls. Blessed with 2 lovely daughters. I was not with you all through those years, nonetheless, I am part of those 35 years. Am I right BFF?

I can't tell everything about her in those years of her life but I can tell you about her when I became part of her. It all started early 90's. I have vivid memories of those times since I was in my elementary. I won't go into details but that's the first time we have met. I think she was in her 3rd or 4th year in college taking Education course. She was one of our practice teacher and mentor. After I graduated elementary, I no longer saw her. Then destiny let us be re-united after 10 years. Destined that I give her a nudge or shake on her shoulders and wake her up to her wits and senses. Sometimes she needed that. And what I don't like most about her is that she keeps herself from all people when she has a problem. Well that's her and I'm not planning to change her. I love her for what she is now..

I have been talking all about her and forgot to introduce her, sorry about that. I have been mentioning her in some of my blog post. She is Nhey Sison or Benilda Lacap Sison for long, LOL! She writes comments on my blog posts as Viper and she is no ther than my BFF! I won't reveal all about her today because it's her special day. Yup, it's her Birthday! How old is she you asked? Better read again the beginning of this blog post but mind you, age is only a number.

Nhey

I'm very proud of her because she stand as a father and mother, best friend and good provider to her 2 daughter. And obedient, helpful, reliable sibling and daughter to her parents. She is hard-working, competent, humble, God-fearing, a good leader, loving, sweet, patient and there are a lot more! As a friend, she will give you whatever she can give. For me, she is a superwoman and miss independent. She has her ups and downs, well everyone has that. She's not perfect, but she is for me and in her own rights.

Nhey's daugthers, Bea and Joby

She is a flexible person. She works hard for the benefit of her family especially for her daughters. Even if she is tired from work, she make sure that everything is okay with her kids. Also takes quality or bonding time wit her kids. When kids have classes, she make sure that all homework are done and reviews them with their lessons at school. With that, kids are among the top of their class.

Nhey loves to read any reading material. She also writes short stories and poems. She loves to watch Korean novelas on the Internet and movies that are romantic, but if you are watching with her make sure that you have a box of tissue ready for wiping her tears because she gets too emotional just by watching those drama stories. So she can't watch with my mother or else the place would be flooded, LOL!

Well, we are both emotional, we love nature and likes listening to Jennifer Lopez's (JLO) songs. Aside from writing, she loves to dance and sing. We are both music lovers. There are things that only us understands and we cannot or don't know how to explain them. She has lots and lots of admirers and some stalkers and after this post, they might be more on the way and I hope they are not stalkers. She's a typical Filipina, simple, morena and beautiful. But we don't know hot to cook dishes, we just love to eat, LOL!

Hmmm... what else... Okay I won't reveal more about her cause she might throw things at me the next time we meet. Peace BFF hehehe...

I won't tell here what is the name I call my BFF, that is between her and me. But my message to you my BFF is (and I'm always telling you) I'm here always at your side even though we don't often see each other or communicate all the time. I'm just here waiting for you to shout my name and you know how and where to reach me. You know me, less talk and more actions.

To you my BFF, I wish you happiness, good health, success and strength in your life. I pray that God give you His abundant blessings and keeps you safe. I wish that what your heart's desire will come true.

For the Light and Lady of the house

I believe in actions speaks louder than words. But in times like this that I would like others to know how do I feel... Words are golden *wink*

These are the messages I say not only to my Mom, my BFF's Mom and my BFF but to all the Mommy, Mother, Nanay, Mudra, Mamang, Mom in the whole wide world. Also to those non-biological Mothers out there. Here are my messages,

Have you hug your mom today? Well what are you waiting for!

There are lots of things we can do for our Mom's today. They are there 24/7 for us and this is the only day for them so let's give them a break on home chores and pamper them. Treat them for a dine out or a massage. For those of you that their Mom's have passed away, you can visit them, say prayers and light candles. You can stay with them for the whole day near their graves. Even if they are already on the other life, they are still there watching for you. God Bless all the Mothers in the whole world!

First of all...

This month of May is my first year anniversary as a blogger. I would like to thank my friend Jules for advising me to create my own blog. I was reading his blog before I made my blog and he told me why don't you make your own blog and it will be your own world. True! This blog of mine became my own world in the Internet. It is a window of my personality and what I am thinking, seeing and feeling. I don't know what title shall I give to my blog and since everything in here is what is one my mind, I finally decided to call it WRITING MIND.

There are times that I wish to write an entry here in my blog but can't find the correct words to express it. I'm not a writer but I am trying to. This is also a training ground for me to learn how to write. If you think I have typing errors on my post, don't hesitate to shoot me a comment and tell me which one I should fix. You can also shoot me some suggestions that you wish to read here at my blog.

I met so many people here in blogosphere. People that became my online friends and some shoots me an email and we chat through email or yahoo messenger. I won't tell who they are and I might miss one of them, LOLz! Anyway, you guys know who you are. I like to thank people all over the world that are visiting my blog and taking time to read my entries. I didn't expect to keep up with posting here because I thought I can't write so many things. I like to share things that I know and this blog gave me the opportunity to do so.

How time flies and already it's my first year in the blogging world. I hope I could post lots of things here as the days move and go by. And I hope you will keep on visiting and reading my entries.

To you who read this Thank you for your time =)

Today is also Labour/Labor Day here in the Philippines. The first Labor Day celebrations took place on May 1, 1903. I know that crisis affected every country that I know of. Many are still jobless even if our government is telling us that there are lots of companies who are hiring people. Yes, there are companies hiring but not all are qualified for the job.

I was watching the noon time news and companies are telling their workers that there is no wage hike for Labor Day. Previous years, workers get their wage hike every year aside from compensation. Every Labor Day, workers gather and rally around the city of Manila to voice out their needs to the government. It's not that the government is not doing anything with their requests especially about wage hike but there are things that the government cannot handle anymore and there is nothing to be done. I know that it's not easy to find a job. A job that you want. They say that find a job that you want will make your work everyday like playing in a playground. It's easy to say but not easy to find.

There are some companies that are not following the Labor code and taking advantage of their workers. Workers that are working in these kind of companies are afraid to voice out what is happening in their company to the government because they are afraid of losing their jobs if they will reveal the anomalies going on. I hope employers will realize what they are doing and give what is really for their workers. Workers are not slaves. They are here to work in order to live in this country.

May 1 is a national holiday in Albania, Argentina, Aruba, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bolivia, Bosnia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, China, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, Hungary, Iceland, India, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Latvia, Lithuania, Lebanon, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Myanmar (Burma), Nigeria, North Korea, Norway, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, the Philippines (spelled as "Labor Day"), Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Serbia, Sweden, Syria, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay, Venezuela, Vietnam, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Happy Labour Day!

A Child...

A child is born in this world
Who laughs and cries
Innocent as they are
Little Angels of this earth

A child who is not afraid of tomorrow
For they know that tomorrow is there caring for them
They don't worry too much
'Cause they know that they are being guarded

It's nice to be a child
It's worry-free
All you do is eat, sleep and play
And be ready what tomorrow might bring

You wish that you can go back being a child
Those memories of childhood times
Some are vivid and some instilled in memory
That you look back and remember

A child cute, cuddly and sweet
It's the starting stage of life

Into a journey in this world
Guided and molded for the future

A friend's next journey

Invite da ka keng kasal ku ne, hehehe

I got that text message after my work that is saying I am invited to a wedding. I looked twice at the sender of that message and I was shocked, excited and happy. Questions started to pop out of my mind. I asked the sender when and where but I would also like to ask how... How did that happened, LOL!

Last January 3, 2009 I attended the Silva-Castro Nuptial at L&S Subdivision, Angeles City followed by the reception at Unichefs. Guests started to arrived at 1pm and the wedding suppose to start at 1:30pm but eventually it was delayed due to the groom and bride did not arrived on time or I know the bride has something to do with the delay of the ceremony because she is always late LOLz! She said that the ceremony will start at 1:30 but I knew it would start after an hour. So it started at around 2:20pm.

I was a bit hesitant to attend the occasion. It's like half of me says attend then the other half says do not attend. I don't know why. Funny, but I asked for a sign if I would attend the wedding or not and there was the sign and I attended together with my mother and brother and my brother's friend. The morning of January 3, Saturday I called in the Bride and checked if every things fine. She said yes and I was about to tell that I will just going to attend the church ceremony and no longer come to the reception. But it's like she read my mind and told me that she wants to see me at the church and reception. I said to myself, oh okay I'll attend and besides if I missed this occasion I know she will later on put this on my face and her mother might not forgive me if I won't attend, LOL!

You might be wondering what is my relation to the Bride. Just a bit of a background. The Bride and I are close friends for almost 13 years. We met when we were in 3rd year high school, we were classmates. The happiest moment of my high school life is during my 3rd year. She is one of my close friends. Her name is Elaine Infante Silva. During our 3rd year highschool the whole class or our block are always on the go both in campus and outside campus. We are like one big happy family. We take photos every now and then. We are together when there is a group walk. Sometimes after class we hang out at Elaine's house. From that time on we became friends, close friends. When we were in college we took the same course but we do not have the same specialty. She specialized in Elementary Education while me, Secondary Education. We were not classmates when we were in college but we see each other and I still hang out at her house and we go to church together. Elaine has her own bloopers that left me happy thoughts.

What I can't forget about her is that, when we were in high school she always spends time at the comfort room powdering her nose and face, LOL! Whenever we change classrooms for the next subject, she is always missing in line waiting to enter the next classroom. We no longer wonder where she is because we know she is at the comfort room, AGAIN, LOL! Another thing is she is forgetful. She needs to be reminded every now and then. This is one incident I won't forget that was told by one of our friends and batch mate. After we graduated in college, she decided to teach in one of the private elementary schools here and later on moved to an exclusive private school in Greenhills, Manila. So I was left here in Angeles City, teaching in one of the computer colleges. One time our friend told me "I was trying to contact Elaine but her cellphone is unattended". Elaine and our friend are both teaching at the exclusive private school in Manila and they both live together in a rented apartment. I asked our friend "and then what happened? Why is her cellphone unattended?". I know that she do not leave the house without her cellphone because she is miles away from home and her mother or sister might contact her every now and then. Our friend said "I went home at our apartment and saw that she left her cellphone charging". Oops! She forgotten her cellphone.

When Elaine went home at their apartment, she admits that she forgotten her phone charging. But what really is hilarious, she opened her cellphone and there is a message "insert sim card". She frowned and was thinking that her cellphone was over charged that is why her sim card is no longer being recognized by the phone. So she opened the back panel of her cellphone to check on the battery and sim card and to her surprise.... The sim card is not inserted in the phone. It turned out that she had forgotten her sim card at home (she went home every weekends at Angeles City). I was laughing my heart out and then I said "well, that's Elaine". LOLz! There are lots of moments like this that instead you would get irritated of her forgetfulness, you will just laugh and laugh about it. Well, its great that she do not forget what she is teaching to her students.

Our high school friends calls her "Powder Ranger" because she powders her nose and face every now and then as long as she get the chance to. According to her sister in law, she still does that until now. LOLz! When she seldom comes home every weekend from work at Manila, we seldom see each other. Even if she got transferred from Manila to Angeles at the exclusive school, we don't see each other often anymore because I am always asleep at day time. I miss hanging out with her.

Here are some of our photos way back then(I was not able to have them scanned, that's why they are a bit messy),
These are the days

Those are our photos from high school and college. I lost my wallet in the year 2003, all my copies of our wallet size photos are in my wallet. These are the only photos left with me.

Going back to the wedding, I attended the significant day on my friend's life. She is the youngest among our barkadas in high school, we call her bunso. I was surprised when she texted me that she's going to marry because she is a quiet and shy type person. I guess she grew out of her shell and learned many things as the years passed by. Even though we don't get to hang out often as we did before, I know she has out grown the "bunso" in her since she has left home to teach in another place. She is her family's little Elaine. Her mother's baby but now a lady.

Let me present to you the Castro - Silva Nuptial.

Viola! After 18 hours of no sleep I attended my friend's wedding and I sneaked out of the side entrance of the church when the Bridal car arrived and went to meet my friend Elaine. We talked a bit and before I went back inside the church, I took this photo with her. Isn't she beautiful. Best Wishes Arvin and Elaine. I hope to see little Arvin and Elaine running at your home maybe not soon, LOL!

This blog is dedicated to Elaine and thanks to Lenny(brides maid and sister in law of Elaine) for some of the photos I used in this blog.
