News team from around the globe like CNN, BBC, ABC, and Hongkong local news are all simulcast and bringing live coverage of the Ex-policeman who held up a tourist bus and passengers are mostly Chinese nationals in Manila. The hostage lasted I think 10 or 11 hours. I won't elaborate more on what happened within those hours for I'm sure many know what happened. I would like to elaborate more regarding how our local government handled the situation on my own opinion. I'm no policeman or related to any of those investigators or any committee involving taking control of the situation. The hostage taker is asking for the police force to give him back his job and to go over or review his charges for misconduct in the office of the Ombudsman. Would it be simple that the negotiator told the ex-cop that they will look into it ASAP? And that they took it into writing or legal documents that they will review the charges or look into what they can do to get him back his job. I would think that if the ex-cop have a legal document at hand, it have ended up the hostage peacefully. Yes, they did shown him a document from the Ombudsman but the hostage taker just said that it is all trash! At that time they should have not let the hostage taker look at the document that even the authorities know that it won't do them any good. I think they only showed that document thinking that they could buy more time for negotiation or the hostage taker will take the document and just surrender. The incident might have ended up around 5:00 in the afternoon if not for the incident happened to the hostage taker's brother. The hostage taker's brother is also a policeman but seen near the tourist bus wearing civilian clothes and carrying a pistol. Later on, the hostage taker's brother was disarmed and arrested for authorities think that he is an accomplish. The hostage taker seen all these on live television because the tourist bus has a television installed in. Why you ask? Because first what provoked the hostage taker former Senior Inspector Rolando del Rosario Mendoza to do such thing is the slow movement of his case in the Ombudsman regarding charges such as robbery, robbery-extortion, grave threats and physical injuries. All the neighbors, friends, and former colleague of the ex-cop are telling people how kind he was and that he is planning to run as Barangay Captain this coming barangay elections. So what he has turned out to be last Monday is a shock to many who knew him. So it's not the media or ground commander nor the negotiator be blamed for this incident. If not for the slow movement of the case of the former cop, no 8 Chinese nationals were killed including Mendoza. The ex-cop is just seeking justice. I hope that something good will turn out after all these incident.

Let's go for the lighter side of week. August 22, all are watching and stay tuned again to their television and on the internet but not for what happened yesterday. All eyes as the beautiful ladies of 83 countries strutted their way on stage for the Miss Universe pageant. Of course with the news regarding the online poll voting, all Filipinos are excited that the country's representative Maria Venus Raj will win the title. As the top 15 were called in, excitement drew all Filipinos to stay tuned until the end of the pageant. All across the globe, people are waiting who will be crowned as Miss Universe 2010. And so the top 10 are called in, Venus Raj is among them and all Filipinos are cheering and jumping. Before Miss Venus represented our country for the Miss Universe, she had undergone some problem because of her nationality. She was born out of wedlock in Doha, Qatar but when her parents separated, she was brought to Bato, Camarines Sur in the Region of Bicol in the Eastern part of Luzon, Philippines. She went through legal matters to fight for her crown after she was declared Bb. Pilipinas-Miss Universe. The organizers of the Bb. Pilipinas said that they will return the title Bb. Pilipinas-Miss Universe to Miss Venus Raj, if she will be able to get a Philippine passport from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). After I think 3 to 5 months of undergoing legal matters, she finally got her Philippine passport and got her crown back as Bb. Pilipinas-Miss Universe and the rest is history.

As she was called in for final questioning for the Miss Universe pageant and as one of the top 10 finalists, everyone is at the edge of their seats. Judge number 2 William Baldwin, one of the foreign actors asked the question to Miss Venus, "What is the one big mistake you've made in your life and what did you do to correct it?". And Miss Venus answered "You know what, sir, in my 22 years of existence, I can say that there's nothing major, major, I mean, problem that I've done in my life because I'm very confident with my family, with the love that they are giving to me. So, thank you so much that I'm here. Thank you, thank you so much!". That lead her to 4th runner-up Miss Universe 2010. Even though Miss Mexico is the winner of the title Miss Universe 2010, Miss Venus Raj is the much talked about contestant in the said pageant.

Because of the word "Major Major" that she said, she became world wide famous as of this writing. Hmmmm... it means no big deal? bonggang bongga? Because she's nervous, she just spilled the words that came first into her mind to answer the question. I know the feeling how it is to answer a question when you are nervous.. Congrats Venus! Yes, it is a national holiday today in the Philippines but it's a day of mourn and saddness. Now that Tita Cory is moving on and going back to Lords kingdom in heaven, I don't know if there will be someone in the future that would be like Tita Cory but what I'm sure that she is one of a kind. I opened the email and saw that it is about a Chinese doctor who survived Lung Cancer. As I go along reading, it is about living a healthy lifestyle. That medicines are not always a way to cure ones sickness. It also about Dr. Tom Wu's book about health. I can't understand the title of the book because it is in Chinese but the email said that it is about 100 ways to stay healthy and eating what is right. I got interested on the topic and researched further and there is an online article I found dated April 2006. The title of the article is Let Medicine be Your Food and Food be Your Medicine - Hippocrates. It talks about healing and staying healthy the natural way and not other people are currently doing like taking pills to stay fit and taking advantage of the new technology.

Dr. Tom Wu
Photo from the Internet

Reading further on the email I have received, Dr Wu's principle is to strengthen the immune system, and avoid medication as much as possible. In his book, he offers the following guidelines to good health:

1. Have at least three bowel movements a day.

Other health experts may advise one bowel movement a day, but Dr Wu says that's not enough. You need three to four bowel movements a day in order to excrete all the accumulated feces from your intestine. Your liver will not be overburdened and it also helps reduce cholesterol in your body.

2. Drink at least three glasses of fruit or vegetable smoothies each day.

This is a way to ingest enough phytochemicals to strengthen the body's cells and immune system. Use not only the flesh, but also the skin and seeds of fruits and vegetables to make smoothies, as they are rich in phytochemicals. Most of the fruit seeds have small amounts of cyanide which kill bacteria and viruses without damaging the body.

Actually the recommended smoothie diet is six glasses a day, two in the morning, one before lunch, two more in the afternoon, and one more before dinner. However, if that's too much, you may start with three glasses a day. Use a high powered blender (at least three horsepower) as it can release phytochemicals from the fibre. It's best to choose sour fruits like green or red apples, grapes, pineapples, kiwi and lime.

3. Sunbathe 30 minutes daily.

We often hear that the Sun's UV rays will damage our skin, and many people apply sunblock before going out. But Dr Wu says the opposite. He says the UV rays will help convert cholesterol underneath the skin into vitamin A which helps moisten the skin and
prevent skin cancer, and also vitamin D that helps prevent colds, osteoporosis, and certain kinds of cancer.

"Therefore, use the Sun. Expose yourself to sunlight about one-half hour a day, at noon or another appropriate time based on your local climate. The Sun will make you healthier," says Dr Wu.

4. Exercise 30 minutes a day.

Don't exercise for more than 30 minutes. If you go beyond that, your body will be overworked. "If you do it more than half an hour, that will become labour, not exercise. Your heart and your body will be working too hard," he says.

5. Shower with hot, then cold water.

Try an alternating cold and hot water shower: Three minutes of hot water followed by 30 seconds of cold water, then repeat twice more. This process will bring a rush of blood and energy to your body. It helps increase your immune system, blood circulation, and metabolism.

6. Drink a lot of water, in the correct way.

How much water you need to drink each day depends on your specific situation. If your office is air-conditioned, drinking six glasses of water a day is enough. If your work involves lots of walking, you have to drink 8-10 glasses a day. If you work under the hot sun, then 10-12 glasses of water are required.

The way you drink is also important. The correct way is to sip it little by little, to give your body cells time to absorb the water. If you drink the whole glass down at once, your cells can't absorb it all, and the water will be excreted as urine.

7. Eat according to your blood type.

Your blood type determines what you should eat. Eating the wrong foods will make you sick.

People with blood type O have to eat a certain amount of meat. If they eat only vegetables for a long time, their body won't absorb all the substances they need to strengthen their immune system. The recommended diet for this group is 75% vegetables, 10% fruits, 10% meat, seafood and goat's milk (avoid cow's milk), and 5% grains.

People with blood type A, however should avoid milk and meat, while increasing grains and fruits. People with blood type B should also avoid meat, while those with blood type AB should avoid chicken and beef.

8. Eat according to your biological clock.

Every human being has a biological clock that tells us when to eat, sleep, and wake up. If you don't follow your biological clock, the organs will lose their balance. Toxins and wastes won't be excreted from your body, and soon you'll get sick.

According to Dr Wu, the biological clock is divided into three phases.

From 4am to noon is the time for bowel movements, so in the morning you should eat foods with lots of fibre. Fruit and vegetable smoothies are recommended.

From noon to 8pm, your body will absorb food so lunch is the most important meal. A vegetable salad with grains is recommended. Fish or boiled eggs can be added to your lunch. Avoid meat at dinner as the amino acids in the meat will disturb your sleep. Try to finish dinner by 6pm.

From 8pm to 4am, the nutrients and energy from food will be distributed throughout your body organs. The golden time for your sleep is between 10pm and 2am, as your immune and self-healing system will function at its best.

Dr Wu says people get sick because they eat the wrong foods. Fried food, for example, causes blockage in the arteries, bad circulation, cholesterol, and heart disease. "Instead of taking a cholesterol lowering drug, I would urge them to stop eating greasy food. My suggestion is to eat clean food, which is high in phytochemicals," he says.

Phytochemicals are natural cleansing agents that will help rid plaque from your arteries. They come from natural foods such as vegetables, fruits with their seeds, and common garden herbs. Phytochemicals will nourish the body's cells so they can fight against any foreign substances that invade your body.

With those mentioned above, I think it's time that we check what we eat on a daily basis and somehow be cautious of what we take in.
Justkyuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16435424365874309178noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4384992101832866126.post-64136357746797122662009-07-23T12:37:00.012+08:002009-07-23T13:03:51.404+08:00The Time Traveller's Wife (2009)After P.S. I Love You shown in the big screen, here comes The Time Traveller's Wife. Be ready for another romantic film that will get you goose bumps once again. This is another bestseller novel put in the big screen.

The book and movie is about Henry DeTamble (born 1963), a librarian at the Newberry Library in Chicago, and his wife, Clare Abshire (born 1971), an artist who makes paper sculptures. Henry has a rare genetic disorder, which comes to be known as Chrono-Displacement, that causes him to involuntarily travel through time. When 20-year-old Clare meets 28-year-old Henry at the Newberry Library in 1991 at the opening of the novel, he has never seen her before, although she has known him most of her life.

Starring Eric Bana as Henry Detamble and Rachel McAdams as Claire Abshire. I know that this story can be somehow tiring because it's waiting and waiting for the one you love to get back to you. In the story, you won't know when your love one will return to you after disappearing over and over again. But patience is still a virtue. Adventure, romance, drama and science fiction all rolled into this movie showing this August 14, 2009. Check out the trailer.

Question is, will you also do the same and wait for the one you love?

Video credit: hitfixcom
wikipediaJustkyuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16435424365874309178noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4384992101832866126.post-62716016236165250912009-07-20T10:03:00.005+08:002009-07-20T10:38:10.395+08:00Salad anyone?Yesterday after I got off from work I craved for salad. Schizophasia produces language that is not meaningful and might or might not be grammatical. "Salad" indicates that the words are tossed together randomly. Weird meaning for me but it is good for me. Ironic?

So I went to Shakey's one of my favorite restaurant, and checked their menu under salad and my eyes caught "Mandarin Salad". The news anchor just said that Michael Jackson is found dead at his residence in Los Angeles, California. I was stunned and starring at the television screen with wide eyes and all ears. It said that he had cardiac arrest and they said that he died at the UCLA Medical Center. I was still a kid back then. I remembered I was imitating his hairstyle when I was I think 5 or 7 years old same with the way he dress during those days. I learned dancing by just watching him move and groove on television. I know there are a lot of negative things that he had done in the late 90's, but to me he is still the one and only King of Pop. I heard last month or April I think that he will be doing a last curtain call concert in Europe this July. How sad that he didn't make it. He must have gone through a lot of stress and pressure these past few days that lead to his death. I hope the media will not make a circus out of his death. My condolences to his family and friends.

Now two of my top icons and idols in the entertainment industry had passed away this year. My Father is a quiet person and one thing that he don't want to do, is to pose for the camera to get his photo, LOLz! He just simply shrugged or hide whenever I am holding the camera on him to get his photo that is why some of the photo I took where he is in them are mostly stolen shots hehehe!

Today is not only Father's day, I mean biological father's day but also for our Uncles, Big Brothers and Grandfathers who are there and stand as our Daddy or takes care of us like a father does. I remember my Grandfather, my father's daddy. When my Tatay is not around, he is there to be my daddy for a day. He died in March 1998 after his 73rd birthday due to complications and he was undergoing dialysis at that time. It was like losing a father at that time. He was a good adviser and as I was growing up as a teenager, he never let a day pass without checking on me and my siblings. I remember that after Tatay taught me how to drive, he goes out with me driving since I don't have a license at that time just a student license. We drive around Clark Air Base and go to duty free shops. Sometimes when he has to go to the doctor for a checkup he lets me drive. By the way, my Grandfather was a retired veteran. He was an Airplane mechanic back then. Tatay told me that when he was still a child, my Grandfather is out of the country mostly and stays in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and sometimes in Thailand. There was a time that my father's whole family were migrated to Laos. Laos, formally known as the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), is one of the poorest nations in South-East Asia. A mountainous and landlocked country, Laos shares borders with Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the south, Thailand to the west, and Myanmar and China to the north. I think my Grandfather was one time assigned at Laos that's why my Tatay with my Grandmother and two uncles were migrated there.

When I was born, Grandfather always come home from abroad to see me and bring me lots of toys. He retired in service when I was in grade 3 I think that was in the late 80's because that's the time I remembered that I was always being taken care by him almost everyday and drops me off to school. I learned how to whistle at the age of 5 through my grandfather.

To my Tatay, my BFF's dad and my Grandfather... Happy Father's day to all Dad's, Grandfather and Uncles out there!

Myspace Fathers Day Comments
Justkyuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16435424365874309178noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4384992101832866126.post-87121014185389194512009-06-12T04:06:00.018+08:002009-06-12T10:44:49.436+08:00Remembering... Filipino revolutionary forces under General Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed the sovereignty and independence of the Philippine Islands from the colonial rule of Spain. The declaration, however, was not recognized by the United States or Spain, and was not generally recognized by other nations. I found my old CDs, diskettes way back in college and before diskettes, floppy disks. Yes! I still have those old floppy disks tucked in my old books back in college. Oh yeah, and later is our very first high school batch reunion that I can't attend to because I need to sleep 'coz I got to work tonight.

Going back to the clutter and old stuffs I found in my room, finally I found the little diary I kept when I was in high school. It is a diary where I wrote some of my poems. Yes I write poems when I was in high school and I was also looking for my drawing book, but I couldn't find it. I was also doing some sketches and drawings during my elementary and high school days just to cure my boredom from watching my late grand ma's merchandising store.

Let me share to you one of the poems I wrote back then.

My Friend, My Love

Everyday I see you in school
And whenever I see you, my heart pounds heavily
When our paths cross you say a simple "Hi"
And hold my hands

If I don't see your face nor your shadow
You couldn't tell what my face looks like
And see you with another person
Something in my heart, that I don't understand

And when I am with you
You can't tell how happy I am
But what I feel for you, you don't know
You only know that we are just Friends

--- Justkyut
 Tuesday, 6pm
October 15, 1996

Justkyuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16435424365874309178noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4384992101832866126.post-46613220938898824932009-05-20T11:24:00.003+08:002009-05-20T11:46:25.993+08:00Let's pause for a commercial breakNowadays, I seldom watch TV because I spend my time after work playing lawn tennis or surfing the net. One time I was watching a evening program and there are always commercial breaks. Not just one commercial but several of them especially if the program is being watched by many and hitting high ratings. I was tired of watching many infomercials and other commercials and I was about to switch channel when a new commercial came up.

I didn't switch the channel and watch the commercial. The commercial is about a little kid (bulilit is what we call little kids ages 1-5 in the Philippines) and she is living in a big new house. The commercial is for Camella homes endorsement. Camella homes is one of the housing developer in the Philippines. As I was watching the commercial, the kid thought she is living in a small house that's why she is moving little by little around the house and finally she realizes that she is now living in a big new home. The kid is cute! And I wonder who she is for that is the first time I saw the kid on national television.

Almost everyone at my work is talking about the commercial and the kid. I searched the internet for the commercial and I found it. I want to share it to you and I also found out that her name is Cha-Cha Canete. She is 4 years old. She once played in the noontime show at Eat Bulaga called Kontrapelo. I found a video too when she played at the noontime show.

Here is the commercial and the video when she played,

Justkyuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16435424365874309178noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4384992101832866126.post-47025704242742144942009-05-14T00:01:00.000+08:002009-05-14T00:01:04.113+08:00Hey! It's all about Nhey!It has been 35 years... You were a kid, teenager, now a lady and mother. Second to 5 siblings and you are all girls. Blessed with 2 lovely daughters. Am I right BFF?

I can't tell everything about her in those years of her life but I can tell you about her when I became part of her. It all started early 90's. I have vivid memories of those times since I was in my elementary. I won't go into details but that's the first time we have met. I think she was in her 3rd or 4th year in college taking Education course. She was one of our practice teacher and mentor. After I graduated elementary, I no longer saw her. Then destiny let us be re-united after 10 years. Destined that I give her a nudge or shake on her shoulders and wake her up to her wits and senses. Sometimes she needed that. And what I don't like most about her is that she keeps herself from all people when she has a problem. Well that's her and I'm not planning to change her. I love her for what she is now..

I have been talking all about her and forgot to introduce her, sorry about that. I have been mentioning her in some of my blog post. She is Nhey Sison or Benilda Lacap Sison for long, LOL! She writes comments on my blog posts as Viper and she is no ther than my BFF! I won't reveal all about her today because it's her special day. Yup, it's her Birthday! How old is she you asked? Better read again the beginning of this blog post but mind you, age is only a number.

Nhey

I'm very proud of her because she stand as a father and mother, best friend and good provider to her 2 daughter. She works hard for the benefit of her family especially for her daughters. Even if she is tired from work, she make sure that everything is okay with her kids. Also takes quality or bonding time wit her kids. When kids have classes, she make sure that all homework are done and reviews them with their lessons at school. With that, kids are among the top of their class.

Nhey loves to read any reading material. She also writes short stories and poems. She loves to watch Korean novelas on the Internet and movies that are romantic, but if you are watching with her make sure that you have a box of tissue ready for wiping her tears because she gets too emotional just by watching those drama stories. So she can't watch with my mother or else the place would be flooded, LOL!

Well, we are both emotional, we love nature and likes listening to Jennifer Lopez's (JLO) songs. Aside from writing, she loves to dance and sing. We are both music lovers. There are things that only us understands and we cannot or don't know how to explain them. She has lots and lots of admirers and some stalkers and after this post, they might be more on the way and I hope they are not stalkers. She's a typical Filipina, simple, morena and beautiful. But we don't know hot to cook dishes, we just love to eat, LOL!

Hmmm... what else... Okay I won't reveal more about her cause she might throw things at me the next time we meet. Peace BFF hehehe...

I won't tell here what is the name I call my BFF, that is between her and me. But my message to you my BFF is (and I'm always telling you) I'm here always at your side even though we don't often see each other or communicate all the time. I'm just here waiting for you to shout my name and you know how and where to reach me. You know me, less talk and more actions.

To you my BFF, I wish you happiness, good health, success and strength in your life. I pray that God give you His abundant blessings and keeps you safe. I wish that what your heart's desire will come true.

Justkyuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16435424365874309178noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4384992101832866126.post-25466006943484101862009-05-10T00:01:00.002+08:002009-05-10T00:01:02.990+08:00For the Light and Lady of the houseI believe in actions speaks louder than words. I would like to thank my friend Jules for advising me to create my own blog. I was reading his blog before I made my blog and he told me why don't you make your own blog and it will be your own world. True! This blog of mine became my own world in the Internet. It is a window of my personality and what I am thinking, seeing and feeling. I don't know what title shall I give to my blog and since everything in here is what is one my mind, I finally decided to call it WRITING MIND.

There are times that I wish to write an entry here in my blog but can't find the correct words to express it. I'm not a writer but I am trying to. This is also a training ground for me to learn how to write. If you think I have typing errors on my post, don't hesitate to shoot me a comment and tell me which one I should fix. You can also shoot me some suggestions that you wish to read here at my blog.

I met so many people here in blogosphere. People that became my online friends and some shoots me an email and we chat through email or yahoo messenger. I won't tell who they are and I might miss one of them, LOLz! Anyway, you guys know who you are. I like to thank people all over the world that are visiting my blog and taking time to read my entries. I didn't expect to keep up with posting here because I thought I can't write so many things. I like to share things that I know and this blog gave me the opportunity to do so.

How time flies and already it's my first year in the blogging world. I hope I could post lots of things here as the days move and go by. And I hope you will keep on visiting and reading my entries.

To you who read this Thank you for your time =)

=========================================================================

Today is also Labour/Labor Day here in the Philippines. The first Labor Day celebrations took place on May 1, 1903. I know that crisis affected every country that I know of. Many are still jobless even if our government is telling us that there are lots of companies who are hiring people. Yes, there are companies hiring but not all are qualified for the job.

I was watching the noon time news and companies are telling their workers that there is no wage hike for Labor Day. Previous years, workers get their wage hike every year aside from compensation. Every Labor Day, workers gather and rally around the city of Manila to voice out their needs to the government. It's not that the government is not doing anything with their requests especially about wage hike but there are things that the government cannot handle anymore and there is nothing to be done. I know that it's not easy to find a job. A job that you want. They say that find a job that you want will make your work everyday like playing in a playground. It's easy to say but not easy to find.

There are some companies that are not following the Labor code and taking advantage of their workers. Workers that are working in these kind of companies are afraid to voice out what is happening in their company to the government because they are afraid of losing their jobs if they will reveal the anomalies going on. I hope employers will realize what they are doing and give what is really for their workers. Workers are not slaves. They are here to work in order to live in this country.

May 1 is a national holiday in Albania, Argentina, Aruba, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bolivia, Bosnia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, China, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, Hungary, Iceland, India, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Latvia, Lithuania, Lebanon, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Myanmar (Burma), Nigeria, North Korea, Norway, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, the Philippines (spelled as "Labor Day"), Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Serbia, Sweden, Syria, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay, Venezuela, Vietnam, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Happy Labour Day!

Justkyuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16435424365874309178noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4384992101832866126.post-66703298987183175432009-04-26T09:10:00.006+08:002009-04-28T22:27:37.431+08:00It's nice to be back! They call him Red for short. He is 9 years old. Last year both of them started taking lawn tennis lessons from Coach Ric. They only get to play lawn tennis when they are here in Angeles City because they go to school in Manila. I get to chat with them during their break time taking lessons. Red is a shy type kid but once you ask him about computer stuffs and online computer games, he starts to talk and talk, LOLz! At his age, he can already play lawn tennis. I was not able to see them last week for they took a vacation and I hope I could see them next week.

It's a bit difficult to teach lawn tennis to kids because if they don't have the confidence and initiative to learn the sport, they won't learn and would easily get iritated. Coach Ric once told me he taught a 2 years old kid who is still wearing her diaper as Coach Ric teaches her. She can hit 10 to 15 tennis balls. After that she would tell Coach Ric "ayaw ko na (I don't want anymore)", LOLz! Then they will stop the lesson and resumes the next day hehehe.. I saw that kid once, she is beautiful like a little cherubin. I salute Coach Ric for his patience and perseverance in teaching lawn tennis.

I will post more of my courtside lawn tennis adventure next time so stay tuned! =)
Justkyuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16435424365874309178noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4384992101832866126.post-91631987341637177852009-04-22T00:01:00.008+08:002009-04-22T00:01:01.618+08:00Earth Day 2009

Today we celebrate Earth Day. I think it is around 2 to 2.5 magnitude on the Richter scale. It lasted for a minute and thank God nothing awful happened for I am at work. But some of my co-workers got scared. I was thinking of my family and friends at that time. It's not usual to have earthquakes. The last country I heard that was hit by a massive earthquake was in Italy, were many died.

I no longer enjoy riding the jeepney because pollution hits my nose and I come home with a dirty nose and face. Smoke belchers don't care if they polluted the air with tons of black smoke from their vehicles. Even factories no longer care if they pollute both the air and water. I was watching a show in one of our local channels last Sunday and they featured Pasig River for an advance tribute to Earth Day. What I saw really really made me sad and disgusted at the same time. Let's face it, there are many projects to revive the Pasig River, but how come non is successfully. Why I said non is successful? Because the river is still polluted and other parts of it already produce methane gas because of the garbage piles under the water aside from the garbage along it's river banks. Pasig River used to be a cool and refreshing spot I think in the early 60's. But now, I don't even want to go near it because of the bad smell of the water. Thank you very much for those people who are trying to rehabilitate the Pasig River, I salute all of you.

Here are some photos I found on the Internet that somewhat related to the environment.

People look at an eruption of an underwater volcano in Hunga Ha'apai, Tonga, March 18. How time flies, don't you agree?

Today is the 40th day since the untimely rest of our beloved Francis "Kiko" Magalona. I hope his family, friends and relatives have already accepted the faith that our dear friend Kiko had gone to. I was reading about 40 days after death and I found out that within that 40 days, a soul wanders into the natural and supernatural worlds. On the first day of death, a soul is judged if it will go to heaven, hell or purgatory. A soul do not haunt houses, or walk the earth as ghosts.

In another entry I have read, it said that in these 40 days the soul is tested for sins. Each day for 40 days, a soul goes through obstacles that are called toll-houses. For the course of two days the soul enjoys relative freedom and can visit places on earth which were dear to it, but on the third day it moves into other spheres. At this time (the third day), it passes through legions of evil spirits which obstruct its path and accuse it of various sins, to which they themselves had tempted it.

Then, having successfully passed through the toll-houses and bowed down before God, the soul for the course of 37 more days visits the heavenly habitations and the abysses of hell, not knowing yet where it will remain, and only on the fortieth day is its place appointed until the resurrection of the dead. Some souls find themselves (after the forty days) in a condition of foretasting eternal joy and blessedness, and others in fear of the eternal torments which will come in full after the Last Judgment. Until then changes are possible in the condition of souls, especially through offering for them the Bloodless Sacrifice (commemoration at the Liturgy), and likewise by other prayers.

I just hope and pray that Kiko is finally in the heavenly kingdom enjoying himself for eternity. Kiko wherever you are you will not be forgotten. We will keep on including you in our prayers. May the Lord Bless you and finally rest in peace.

To view my previous post about Francis Magalona please click here and here.
Justkyuthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16435424365874309178noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4384992101832866126.post-31794773195477091052009-04-10T09:05:00.030+08:002009-04-10T12:50:15.280+08:00Good Friday: Church and FlagellantsI was sick the moment I woke up last night I have a few rashes on my right arm some on my left arm and on my back. People of Jerusalem welcomed Jesus Christ by waving their Palm branches and laying their cloaks on the path that Jesus Christ is taking.

Palm Branches or Palaspas

In each country they have their own way of celebrating Palm Sunday. Here in the Philippines, before the Mass begins, people wave their palm branches as the priest enters the church and blesses the branches with holy water. Afterwards, the holy mass is celebrated. Palm branches or Palaspas are taken home after the mass and are hung in doorways or above the windows. It is belief that by doing this, the family that is staying in the home were the blessed palm branches hung are protected from evil spirits and thunders.

This morning I was able to attend the morning mass at the Immaculate Concepcion in Sta. We should repent from our sins and think of the sacrifices that Jesus Christ spent for us to live a life that we have today. I do hope that this week won't be a week of vacation or family outing but a week of prayers and remembering the life that God gave us.

I wish I could have Visita Iglesia or church visitations this Friday and visit the Pabasa (literally meaning reading or to read) where in the story of Jesus Christ from birth to death is told in narrative poetry.or in a poetic way. Observance began in 1993 and has grown significantly ever since.

In 2005, marked the start of the second UN International Decade for Action for Water. Also called Water for Life Decade 2005-2015. This is in coordination with the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) coordinated the World Day of Water in 2006 with the theme: Water and Culture. While in 2007, the theme was "Coping with Water Scarcity" in coordination with FAO.

Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) helps in promoting clean water and sustainable aquatic habitats. With this, they used World Day for Water to have the public be aware about the critical water issues of our era. NGO's and other agencies joined in getting the public be aware of issues like there are a billion people who have no access to safe water for drinking and the role of gender in family access to safe water.

Today, March 22, 2009 marks another World Day for Water. The ICRC calls the attention of the governments to ensure safe water and decent sanitation for civilians in conflict zones. It is said that many die because of diseases that is from unsafe water that people take in. We are lucky that we have safe drinking water. Whenever we do not use water properly, think of those people who don't have enough water to take in order to keep them hydrated and for those who are sick and dying due to not able to drink clean or fresh water. As they said, we cannot eat on bread alone, we need water to sustain our bodies and not be dehydrated especially now that we are having global warming.

Here are some photos I found on the internet.

Children carry home water collected from a roadside tap in an impoverished neighborhood of Dhaka, Bangladesh, Friday, March 20, 2009.
